Knit'n'NatterRock Village Hall Every Wednesday 2-4pm
The idea of Knit'n'Natter seems to have appealed to a lot of people and we now have many keen members. We meet in the hall and have a cup of tea/coffee whilst completing marvellous works of art. People knit, crochet, do embroidery and tapestry and sometimes just natter! Some people continue with projects they started years ago, others have started new projects and some are knitting baby hats for Save the Children's appeal to save tiny babies in Tibet from the cold nights. We are well on our way with the first 100 hats which we will pack up and send to London to be forwarded to Tibet This latter projects has really caught the imagination of our Rock Knitters and we have home knitters too who are unable to come to the village hall for various reasons, but are contributing to the appeal. Anyone could knit a baby hat- Save The Children have put a knitting pattern onto their web site which can be printed off. I have some copies of this or any pattern for a baby hat will do providing it ends up about 10 inches in diameter. Please do not use plain white wool as it depicts death- but stripes with white in will be fine. The group is collecting wool for our wool bank so if you have any spare it would be gratefully received! It will either be used for baby hats or for knitting squares to make blankets which in turn will either be used for the elderly in this country or sent off to Save the Children I would like to thank all those who have responded to my Knit'n'Natter notices- it has been more successful than I dreamed and is certainly keeping Rock Fingers busy( not to mention tongues!!) There is a happy buzz in the hall on Wednesday afternoons, so if you would like to join us- you do not have to come every week, no one can commit to that- you would be very welcome indeed Rosemary Dalley 01299 266059. |
